There is absolutely no reason to wash your engine. This can cause more harm than good. Washing your motor with a high-pressure washer can damage electrical components and seals. I strongly suggest you don't wash your engine.

Same goes for an under-chassis wash. Unless you're driving through mud every day, I don't see the point... who looks under their car except for an auto mechanic?

if you use the automatic car wash this will clean the undercariage . There is really no reason to wash the engine. This can cause more damage than it can help. Todays cars have many electronic components on the engine and are not to friendly to water...especially hi pressure water. The only time you need to wash the engine is if you are looking for a leak and the engine is too dirty to find the leak.

I would not recommend washing your engine. If it is a fairly new electronically controlled engine. the reason is because water can be forced into sensors and cause electrical short internally in the sensor possibly doing damage to the vehicles computer,or a drive-ability problem.if you have to wash the engine use only garden hose pressure and rinse the cleaner or degreaser off gently.my suggestion is that it is under hood and only a cosmetic appearance issue. so leave the engine alone.
