Ever since I turned 13 (i'm 15 now) my lips have always been cracked and chapped, throughout the whole year. I used to ocassionally put on chapstick, and that wouldn't work. I also tried vaseline, and that didnt work. And now when I put on lipgloss, my lips look gross because its cracked underneath the gloss..
What can I do to get rid of this?
Thanks.

I drink a lot of water, so I don't think its from dehydration....

you have to do the chap stick or Vaseline everyday and night. I would use the Vaseline at night to keep the moisture in and the chap stick during the day but do not lick your lips that could be your whole problem

vaseline is not good for chapped lips- even though alot of people think so. If you keep using the vaseline, your lips get used to it and will continually be dry and need more and more. Stop using it and by a lip exfoliater and then use blistax every other day. That will stop the nasty cycle of chapped lips. Bath and Body Works has a great lip exfoliater as well as The Body Shop!

The Body shop has a lip scuff which helps exfoliate your lips. This will help get all the extra skin off there before you moisturize your lips. I use the body shop hemp lip balm, and their shea lip butter. They both work great for me, my lips used to be chapped all the time and now they're never chapped.
Here's how I use them. Put the lip scuff on just like lipstick and rub your lips together (to exfliate better), wipe off with tissue. Apply hemp lip balm in a few strokes, let it sit for a minute then add shea lip butter. The lip butter is even more mositurizing and if gives your lips just a bit of shine (not like a gloss).
Also start drinking more water. Chapped lips can be a sign of dehydration.

I have the same problem right now, and I found out it was from a lip gloss I was using, turns out my cracked tingly lips was a sort of allergic reaction. I haven't used that gloss in about 2 weeks, but I'm still waiting for the problem to wear off. But this works really good:
every night, before you hop into bed, COVER your lips in vaselline.
Use an old (or go out and buy a cheap) toothbrush, and just rub the bristles on your lips for about 3-5 minutes...this scrapes off dead, dry skin...and when you think you've done it enough, wipe off the excess vaselline and feel if your lips are smooth enough to your liking. If you still feel a few rough spots, repeat.
If they feel smooth and soft, put on more vasselline or an overnight lip treatment..make sure your lips are COVERED in it. Then let it soak in overnight. It's a cheap kind of exfoliation and it works soo good for me. Good luck, i feel your pain

I never found chapstick to be particularly useful. I've always used Vaseline Lip Therapy; I apply it whenever my lips start to feel dry and it works really well. Just keep applying it.
Some other people have used Carmex and reported very satisfied results, so it's up to you! Drink plenty of fluids and don't lick your lips--unless there's sauce on them!

I got a good product for you!! Go buy some Burt's Bees lip balm, it has rich ingredients that will make your lips soft and chap free!!
Good Luck!! Just in case you don't know where to find it go to a walgreen's drug store or pharmacy. Also take a toothbrush and put warm water on it and gently brush off the dead skin off your
lips!! It works great!!

Blistex Fruit Smoothies chapstick makes your lips super soft and keep them from getting chapped. You have to put it on several times a day, but it works so well.
You can buy them in packs of 3 or 4 and they are really inexpensive. Try keeping one in your purse, one in your locker, one at home, etc. and put it on everytime you see it. This really helps.

try Burt's Bee's or carmex MEDICATED lip balm.. and use it DAILY. if u think vaseline doesn't work, u probably haven't tried it for a long time..? it doesn't work overnight, u have to condition ur lips. the exfoliator will be a good idea too
moisturize ur face
drink a lot of liquids
eat a lot of veggies and fruits :)
u can also try HONEY.. it's a miracle~

Put the vaseline on at night when you go to bed. It will work while you sleep. Or get a medicated chap stick
