get a pacifier. they are a life saver. and my peds Dr. recommends it because it helps reduce SIDS. when baby is suckling they are breathing! (something SIDS baby's bodies forget to do) the suckling effect helps their little bodies remember "hey, I've gotta take a breath".
and patients. all of mine were like that for the first 2 or 3 months.
sleep when she sleeps, even if it's a cat nap.
get a friend/relative to help one night so you can get some sleep.
if your breast feeding...pump some milk for a night time feeding and let daddy/ or relative take over a feeding for you.

Start with routine. I know that is what everyone says. Just start with bathing her every night at the same time. Then put her right to bed. It will be her signal that it's time to sleep. Don't let her nap in her bedtime crib. Do that elsewhere. After she gets the hang of a bath and bedtime, you will be amazed how the morning will work out. Generally my newborn will eat at 8 30pm. I bathe him at 9 00, down in crib in dark room with music by 9 15. He sleeps until about 6 00 am, then will eat every two hours like clockwork until noon. Then it's a crapshoot again! But bedtime sure is nice at this point! Also, make a routine out of feeding. Start by diaper change, then feeding, diaper change, then feeding, over and over. You will be okay!

The best thing for you to do is come up with a sleep schedule, feed only at certain times at your physicians request and everytime the baby cries dont feed her. Normally at that age babies should be fed every two hours and not more.

I am a nutritionist
a one month old babys stomach holds less than 2 ounces and empties every 1.5- 2 hours it is normal for a baby that age to eat frequently.
you also might want to look into a baby sling, babys that are carried cry less and sleep more.

i bet she has acid reflux.. evertime you lay her down, that stomach acid flows back into her esophagus and it burrrrnnnnsss ... bothmy kids had it.. Try sleeping her in her car seat.. put a pillow UNDER the mattress.. or sleep her in a swing. Give her some liquid Mylanta... ask your doctor on what is the appropriate amount for her pounds.
If that doesnt help.. try something else... but my money is on acid reflux.
If is DOES help, then you need to speak with your Dr. about getting your baby on some AR medication to heal the damage done and to prevent the AR from occuring.
Take care

My boy was the same for the first three-four months. If your breastfeeding then just sit back and nurse. It may be a growth spurt. Maybe she just wants to suck, maybe gas. Whatever it is, nursing is making her feel better. Get the "ultimate baby wrap" i wish someone would have told me about it sooner.
