Well, here are a few:
1) You are trying to regulate the American family. What's next, taking away their TV, their car and the rest of their rights?
2) Most kids will grow out of it as hormones kick in during adolescence. [Not really true, and the damage is happening already - I didn't say it was a GOOD argument.] :o)
3) When the parents can't prevent obesity in themselves, what makes you think they will be able to do it for their kids? If they have no self-control, or poor habits, the kids will just follow along.
4) The problem is not with the parents but with the media, which pushes fast-food in commercials right and left. Get rid of the commercials and ads, and the parents won't need to do anything.

If would help your cause if you could find facts to support these. However, given that they are pretty weak, you may just have to go on your persuasiveness alone.

Good luck!

I believe you should give a persuasive speech about why there should be no more persuasive speeches, only talks on which one wishes to communicate, and the reasons why. Of course when one really feels inspired to speak on something, they'll do it and the words will be there. The circumstances shouldn't be forced, it's not required in all workplaces to voice your opinion that way. When one is inspired to, is the only time when it's appropriate to really give an effect speech, unless one is some form of a represenative. But then it's naturally in the job description. Go from there.

I can't think of any credible arguements. The only thing I can think of is that some parents might use the arguement that their child doesn't like healthier foods or doesnt' want/like to exercise. Like I said...nothing very credible...
