are you sure you have fitted the correct bulb, usually a double filament bulb (LLB380) if that is ok make sure all the wires are connected to the lamp fitting and also check the brake light switch and associated wiring. Good luck

Check the connectors for the wiring to the back light, they get corroded. Rub them with a bit of wet & dry or something, reconnect them and see if that helps. A lot of people cut the bullet connectors off completely and solder the wiring up. Also, check the contacts in the bulb fitting haven't oxidised a bit where they touch the bulb. If they have, scrape them gently a bit with a screwdriver. Its unlikely that both break light switches will have failed at the same time. With older Hondas its nearly always wiring.

I owned a cg one hundred twenty five in 1982 whilst i exchange into 19 and in no way particularly had any problems with it different than for the oil pump packing up and inflicting engine seizure. It ran large after a rebuild however and lasted for some years after that until eventually at last i bought it and the guy who offered all of it of sudden met a tree and wrote it off a week later.

Probably got dirt in the brake light switch, as it's exposed. Does the CG have a switch for the front brake (can't remember) ? That's how you can check the light itself so you will know it's the switch on the back.

There's a small microswitch between the lever and the light and it's attached to a cable I think. Tighten the cable to match the footbrake lever and it should work.

does it operate when you pull the front brake lever? if it does the your rear brake switch is out of adjustment. if it doesn't then you have a bad connection
