Octane rating. Only! No difference in emissons, additives, etc. Won't keep your engine any cleaner, make you sexier, cure world hunger, etc., yadda, yadda.
Use whatever is specified in your owner's manual. If your car calls for 87 octane putting 89 or 91 octane in it is just a waste of money. If it calls for 91 octane, using 87 or 89 can damage your engine; at the very least it will run poorly and get lousy gas mileage.

Give regular gas a try and listen to your engine, especially when you're accelerating. If it sounds the same, you'll save money and get the same results with regular gas. If you hear more knocking and/or pinging than you did with the premium, then switch back. That means that the fuel isn't burning completely and that's exactly what the additives in the premium are there for. Sorry to say that for many cars that run fine on regular, the extra $$ for premium are a waste.

The higher the octane ,the higher the flash point, less knocking, better performance. But only on a car engine that the manual specifies HIGH TEST GAS ONLY, otherwise your just wasting your money, use regular!!!!!

octane rating is the measurement of volitility if you have a high compression engine u should use a high octane fuel it will build more horsepower not better gas mileage 99% percent of cars will run better on regular gas than super or supreme as you call it. motorcycles having a high compression engine will run better on high octane fuel. This is because high compression means high heat.

Unless you have one of the few cars that recommend high octane fuel the regular works fine.

Check your car's manual. It will tell you what gas is best. Most cars take regular. I know that some Buicks need Premium.
