I'm doing a movie project on gender violence. The topics include intimate partner violence, sexual harrassment, sexual assault, and gender intimidation. Does anyone have any ideas on movies that have scenes featuring these between males and females? preferably newer movies that would be available at the local movie rental.

'Once were Warriors' - film from New Zealand with lots of stuff about domestic violence in it. Not sure where you are so might not be available there - very powerful movie though, would recommend a watch

I suggest North Country--it has Charlize Theron--she is a women working in a mine where the women are constantly harrassed by the men. She brings a lawsuit against the mining company--it is based on a true story and is very entertaining and does a good job of highlighting the struggles of women

Check out a French film called 'Irreversible'. There is a horrific rape scene in real time in it that will haunt your nightmares for weeks! It's a really good film though.

It's not that recent of a release, but Julia Roberts in "Sleeping with the Enemy" comes to mind.
