Single Gender Schools?

Question

What does everyone think of single gender schools? Are they a good or bad idea? Also, can you explain why?

I believe that they have both good and bad points...

They can be good because they can cut down on some types of distraction and competition, they eliminate the problem of girls being sexually harassed by boys, it may help lower the chances of some kids having sex too early.

Bad because the kids may be a little behind when it comes to learning how to deal with the opposite sex. If kids are forced to look for boyfriends/girlfriends on the street and in the malls, they may wind up in a more dangerous situation since they wouldn't know the people as well. Maybe there would be more of a chance of them being taken advantage of because of that.

First off gender is a state of mind,that word is used by PC crackpots that are not in touch with reality.Sex is a physiological state.What sex are you male or female is the proper presentation,not what gender are you.Now to answer your question I firmly believe schools would better serve the students and faculty by being all boys or all girls schools.More frank and open approach to lesson plans are more productive.There would be less distraction due to the laws of attraction.Of course in any system there is sexual experimentation so that is not a disqualifying factor.And as a bonus I say a prescribed uniform is most beneficial for all.

No doubt you right about good and bad points. Maybe the curriculum is great and the decor stinks. If single gender schools are still like they were when I was a kid, though, a homophobic might have a real problem adjusting.

IT is good because you know how boys can be perverted sometimes and "accidentally" go into the girls bathroom.
