Wow, very good point. Never thought I'd see it that way. Personally, I wouldn't call them unpatriotic, just environmentally ignorant. Yes, I'm a tree-hugger.

I don't see how. By the way its their money isn't it. I think its patriotic to support freedom, and unpatriotic to oppose it. Such as trying to tell other people what kind of car to drive.

What if an SUV owner only drives 3500 miles per year, and an owner of a Yugo drives 25,000 miles per year. Is the Yugo owner more patriotic than the SUV driver. What about a some politician jetting around in a private jet coast to coast complaining about SUV drivers, is he more patriotic than an SUV driver that doesn't zoom around in a private jet.

No. If they buy a $40,000 SUV from GM, the gas costs for a year will be around $2500 a year. More money goes to the American economy than to Canada.

Canada supplies more OIL than all of OPEC combined to the US.

There not unpatriotic. You have a right to buy whatever you want when it comes to cars. I don't necessarily think there being very smart in there choice, but in our country you have a right to be dumb.
