why should we wear a helmet when we're riding a bike

UM....because the helmet essentially acts as a shock absorber if your head should come into contact with a hard object such as the road....Without the helmet your brain slams against your skill...this is called a concussion....then your brain bleeds and hemorages and shortly there after you die..

Go outside. Find a place where you can run as fast as you can towards a wall.
Take off running with your head down. Pound head into wall.
This was 10 to 15 mph. and I can guarantee it hurt a bunch.
Now do the same thing with a helmet on. You'll feel it in your spine, but your head will be ok (note, don't do this test with a helmet you plan on riding in, it will only be good for the dumpster afterwards!).
Even the smallest ATV or bike will go faster than that in first gear. Now imagine doing it at 30mph, then 40mph.
Helmets won't guarantee to keep you completely healthy in a bad wreck, but they will significantly increase your chances of walking away from most crashes.
And if you ride, you will crash. Guaranteed.

Add just a little to that last answer by hang-in...
Your skull is a thin bone layer if you hit it against anything your brain swells under the thin layer of skull.. This does cause problems with how you function... Sometimes you won't even know how your affected... The worse the injury the more the damage and swelling...
If you spilt your skull open and your brains come out you might not remember ever asking this question or anything else ever again... Or be traped inside your own mind looking out at people and stuff passing by but not able to talk, walk, move, just lay there and stare at what ever is in front of you... Or just die.
Helmets save some lifes, But speed kills even if your wearing your helment... I wear a Helmet when riding motorcycles, fast off roading and Drag racing...

you indeed still have that freedom. you have the freedom to kill yourself whenever you want. just not that way. helmet laws are horrible. if they didnt exist morons who dont wear helmets would be weeded out of the gene pool. this is called survival of the fittest. but if i were you i would just rebel and not wear a helmet. it's not like there's anything worth proctecting in that head anyway.

We shouldn't! When we buy the motorcycle from the dealer. He or she doesn't give us a helmet with the bike. It is a option!!! We have to pay for it. Their for I say, we don't have to wear it. But the laws of the state where you live say we have too.
JUST ANOTHER FREEDOM TAKEN AWAY FROM US!

ok if u dont kow if u dont were one ur head could and probly will be damaged extreamly bad coz if u hit ur head the bones can put a hole in ur brain and u could blead to death or be periolized for life there are a lot of things taht could and might not happen but just to be on the safe side i would were one but if u got cable wach the er showes and the shows like that on chanell 220 coz they got soem good resions on there just by waching it
