i experience this often at work,i personally think that it's very rude to not say hello in return.i think it's polite to greet someone especially if you have to work together all day.should i continue to be nice\polite to them or give them the cold shoulder also?

Yes it bothers me. But, I know that there are times that I am deep in thought and can walk quite a distance and not even remember passing any one in the hall. So, maybe give the person that you work with a bit of a break and see if they speak with you the next time they pass you and if they do, write it off as preoccupation and not rudeness.

Yeah that mad rude. People should at least give you the same respect and speak back. Sometimes they may not hear you though. If you say hi twice and they still dont respond, let them be. Two wrongs don't make it right.

Yupp! That's rude and mean....meaning they don't listen to you but when they speak to you, you have to listen. Not fair isn't it. But just be yourself...if they are not happy to say hello, then that's their problem not yours...just be happy as you are...they probably have something in their mind that keeps them from saying hello.

No, I don't get mad because nine times out of ten I figure they didn't hear me because I have a soft voice.

Continue to be nice and let your politeness shine.

Yes. When you speak to them, raise your voice a little and say their name if you know it. Thats hard to ignore. Don't let their rudeness bother you. It's their problem.

fDoes it make ME angry? No -- I would think them either deaf or preoccupied. If you expect otherwise, and think someone heard you plainly and was too ill tempered, or petulant, or petty, or self centered, or mean to return a pleasant hello, be glad your acquaintnce is showing his/her true colors.
