Did all Pontiac Firebirds come standard with darkened windows, or was that just an option? What years were they manufactured? What years was the body style changed?

Yes darkened windows are an option.
The history of the Firebird / Trans Am dates back to 1967. There were 4 different generations.
Briefly
Generation 1 1967-1969
Generation 2 1970-1981
Generation 3 1982-1992
Generation 4 1993-2002

I have attached a link to a very good Firebird/Formula/Tran Am site.
