Because we go for the traditional turkey and dressing at Thanksgiving, we like to mix it up for Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, we make a huge pot of homemade spaghetti sauce and have spaghetti and salad and bread.
Then, on Christmas morning, we have brunch after we finish opening gifts: a delicious egg casserole, danishes, and, of course, lots of coffee (my brother and my sons are notorious for dragging us all out of bed before the sun rises).
All these things are easy to throw together and can be made ahead of time; that way, we can focus on spending time with each other instead of spending all day in the kitchen. If you'd like recipes, I'd be happy to share. Happy Holidays!

We're Polish, so we have the traditional Christmas Eve dinner (with a few exceptions): Potato/cheese perogies, sauerkraut perogies, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut cooked with mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup, baked orange roughy (fish), and brown and serve rolls. We also share opatek, thin wafers. Everyone gets a piece, then we go around the room, breaking off pieces and giving well wishes for the new year. Yeah, we're a little nuts, but who isn't?

We always have ham, mashed potatoes, ham gravy (my favorite!!), and miscellaneous other stuff....like homemade chex mix, finger jello, etc.
Unfortunately, I won't be spending Christmas at home so I will be missing out on my fave meal! :o( My husband's family just has munchies...what those munchies are is beyond me...this is my first Christmas with them.
Merry Christmas!

The main course is usually turkey, warm dinner rolls, mashed potatoes and meat pies.
There are also trays of vegetables, dips, cheese and crackers.
For dessert there's usually an apple pie, some log cake and a variety of baked goods.
Drinks include milk, wine, coffee/tea and creme de menthe.

In the superstore, fruits are usually selected much too soon. Some are rocks, many are bitter. Some of the fresh vegetables are right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.
