Yes, it should be. Depending on the airlines rules and regulations concerning new borns.
The only think you should have to worry about is "ear-popping" That pressure you build behind your ear drums as you accend and decend altitude. As grown ups, we know how to get rid of this before it becomes painful, babies can't.

If it's only 40 minutes I see no problems. When my daughter was 6 months old we hauled her on two 2 hours flights with a 3 hour lay over. She did wonderfully. I think it's just a matter of the baby's personality. Our daughter thought it was one great adventure in the terminals and then slept on the plane because it wasn't exciting enough for her apparently. The others are right though, take bottles and pacifiers for take off and landing because sometimes their ears pop and it scares them. My daughter miraculously slept through take off and landing both times. You should always consult your doctor of course but that's just my 2 cents. Hope you have a great trip!

i took my son on a 2 hour flight at 3 weeks of age. doc said he was good to go.
just make sure you pop a bottle in his mouth on take off and landing to help with the "ear popping" from the cabin pressurization.
make sure your infant seat is FAA approved.
you'll need to buy an extra ticket for that or they will make you put the carrier under the plane. i would NEVER travel on an airplane with my infant as a lap child, in an emergency they tell you to put the baby on the FLOOR! are they KIDDING? eek!...so i buy the extra ticket! you wear a seat belt so should the baby :)

I would say its ok after the first 2 weeks of life! There is nothing that can harm them..the only thing to worry about is the elevation and their little ears getting sore..I would suggest giving your baby a bottle or the breast to suck on so his ears don't pop! Good luck and enjoy your holiday!!

enormously specific maximum airlines will enable any elderly toddler to fly. My son exchange into 5 weeks the 1st time that he flew. they gained't get sick merely from going to a distinctive u . s . a . yet they are able to get sick from being uncovered to each and all the germs in an airplane and in the busy places like airports and shuttles and places like that. i'd fly with a new child yet i'd carry a TON of hand sanitizer and infant wipes and that i'd carry them in somewhat one service so as that they could be customarily coated and human beings does no longer be touching them.

Babies' ears suffer the same (maybe worse) discomfort when the plane changes altitude. Remember to nurse or bring a bottle to give him during takeoff and landing. The swallowing will help his ears "pop" and relieve the pain.

it depends on the baby and if there are any health problems. i would consult with the babies doctor to see if he/she thinks it's ok for your son to be on a flight. it's a relatively short flight and he's had his two week check up i'm assuming. if everything checked out and he has no health problems i would say it should be fine. it's really up to the you and what you feel comfortable with since it is your child.

Talk to his pediatrician but I flew from Cali to Iowa with my son when he was 5 wks old and he did wonderful. I just did my best to keep people away from him. I asked his pediatrian an at his 4 wk checkup and she said it would fine to take him on the plane.
