Friend - I am sure that you can, but it might be a very boring and lonely existence. I have no clue what I would do because I would not want to find myself there. GBY

I think you can be happy without Friends, but I do not know about work. You could probably be happy without a physical job, but I think you would need something to make you feel like you are doing something. I think you would have to have some kind of relationship in order to be happy. It has been proven that babies need physical contact and love to develop. If I had neither a job or friends, I would probably devote my life to helping others in need. But then I would have to have some relationships.

of course, how you define work and relationships is key here. if by work you mean a mainstream type employment situation, and by relationships you have in mind the usual intimate or, at least, semi-intimate, numerous friendships and romances, then i'm sure quite a number can be. we are all different, after all. some of us keep busy doing what we truly enjoy rather than knuckling under to the dictates of a pathological culture in order to feed our egos vis-a-vis money and status, and survive as best we can. in addition, especially among the more sensitive, artistic, "infp" types, less is more in interacting with humans. we tend to choose our company very carefully, especially easy when one enjoys ones own company best. in a culture which is terminally materialistic, shallow and extraverted, such people are viewed with suspicion and "dismay". those of us who trigger such responses are vastly amused at such results, and laugh quietly to ourselves at the lack of consciousness (but, compassionately, of course) ;-)

I don't know if I possess that kind of control.
I think happiness is more of a state of mind, and
that things that occur outside are just incidental, and
need not have a bearing on thoughts.
We make those things important, by thinking about them.

Absolutely. If I didn't have to work and had no relationship baggage, I could finally finish my novels.

No reason why not. But it would be lonely.
