Make sure that your email has a complete signature that provides all your business information and a promotional tagline.

Posting messages in forums or bulletin boards is a great way to make your business known to people you would otherwise be unable to contact. Getting a Myspace page or a Yahoo 360 page is another way to reach out on the internet free.
Make use of the free blogs all over the web...depending on what you are selling there may be tips and tricks you can share while also offering a place for people to get a look at sales etc.

If you have a website, tweak the pages to appear in the search engines. If someone types in the stuff you sell you want them to find you on the first search page.
If you are running a website, get into webrings that are affiliated with the same type of things as you sell and those webrings will help generate traffic to your site

In everything you do whether it be on the web or at a retail location make sure that your top priority is customer service, that your employees know your product and that whether an order is for $5 or $5000 worth of merchandise the customers are EQUAL and both very important to your business.
The customer that spent $5 may be a millionaire and if treated well they may be the next $5000 customer, but if treated badly they may go to your competition.

Good Luck.
