They say that Okies is a "southern plains" state. But it feels like the buckle of the Bible Belt.

i think this is somewhat the two "techniques of existence". in the beginning, i desire to show that my family is extremely racially different. i'm white, my husband is black and my youngsters are biracial. My husband lived in Dallas for some years and he mentioned on account that he has lived right here in ok city that he sees extra interracial couples than he ever could see in Dallas and of direction meaning extra biracial youngsters besides. It has heavily replace into the norm around the section I stay. That being mentioned, there are nonetheless prejudice people, yet under what you may probable see in the Southern States like Mississippi (the place my husband grew up). i think for this reason I dont see Oklahoma as a typical southern state, yet they music, the foodstuff besides as another issues do have a tendency to be extra of the southern techniques. i could say the midwestern "techniques" could could desire to do with the climate the no longer as southern of an accessory and the undeniable fact that we dont have that southern background, on account that Oklahoma has purely been a state for merely over a hundred years.

I've heard it called both.
Most people consider it the home of the "heartland." It's really a "center" of the country state.
To northerners, it's a mid-western state.
To Oklahomans themselves, they often call themselves Southern.

I think geographically it's a mid-western state, but culturally southern. My sister-in-law is from Tulsa and she says they consider themselves southern.

I'd say Oklahoma is southwestern. Along with Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Maybe Colorado, too, if you don't have a category called "mountain states."

Should it not be called a central state. I believe the center of the U.S.A. is located there.
