i've been friends with sam for as long as i can remember. we talk on aim alot and keep in touch but, now that we're at college we dont see each other anymore. im looking foward to seeing her over winter break and want to get her a sweet gift. i was thinking of getting two rings one for me and one for her so that we're always connected. is that cool, lame, or what? i think shes going to get me a nice winter hat we saw last time we hung out.

As a woman I would love a friendship ring like your talking about. It shows you care and that you are thinking about her when she is not around. Go for it, she should love it.

Yes...but make sure you engrave the inside with a meaningful message...put in both your names and add something that you guys always say to each other, something funny that will make her laugh. I personally think it is a great gift, she can wear the ring on her finger or a necklace. You can also get her a charm bracelet, girls are really into that (just so you have options)

Yes that's nice but rings are very suggestive gifts and she might get the wrong idea of what you mean by it or you might get the wrong idea if she accepts it. Make sure you are both on the same "wave length" first then make it a plain gold signet ring.

Rings have meaning. It seems like you're expecting a promise or a bond or offering an engagement. Get a necklace instead.

skip the rings.... too symbolic of marriage.
maybe something similar to what you think she is getting you.
if it is deeper, you need to talk to her about it... but if it is not, you have not lost with the rings.
try a letter of your commitment as a friend to her... ladies LOVE, heart felt emotions.
good luck

that's cute but is she your gf? if she isn't, you may want to think of another gift unless you plan on asking her out. otherwise, idk...you may not get the reaction you want when you give it to her. she might become confused. like asking herself if he wants to take it to the next level. is that what you want her to think?
good luck.
