I don't see why they couldn't be based on real people from eons ago.
Currently a large segment of humanity believe in Mohamed, Jesus, Abraham, Moses, and Buddha. The majority of human society do not doubt the existence of these profound individuals, and their combined effect on our belief systems. Ten thousand years from now they might be considered completely false. Something humans invented to deal and cope with the world around them.
We are only beginning to tap into our history about our Mesolithic, Neolithic, and Bronze age past. I do believe it is very possible that these myths were based on heroes of an ancient past, that we have no hard facts about today. Only myths exist today possibly based on small slivers of truth here and there.

Well, they were supposed to have physical bodies, as Zeus would often come down and sleep with some type of person, deer, or something.
Zeus once even sowed a baby into his thigh and 9 months later gave birth.
They lived in a palace built by Haephestus, Aphrodites' husband, on mount Olympus in Greece. There is no palace on mount Olympus where Gods live.
As well it seems, Zeus/other gods were quite active fellows and would get into mischief quite often, however we don't hear about people complaining that Zeus impregnated their wife, or Ares demolished a village, etc. Either they would have really calmed down and become monks somewhere or they don't exist or they were killed by another god (Zeus killed his father Chronos so gods could be killed).

When you consider that they have been incorporated into every single facet of our lives, from the names of weekdays, to the constellations, etc., then yes, they are real. A religious standpoint has to be taken into consideration as so many people believed in them. Did they exist in human form? No. Did they exist in the 'Stargate' type alien form, highly doubtful. They were and are, however, assimilated into many aspects of all of our lives even today.

Just as in any religion, the greek gods and goddesses are representations of concepts already seen in nature, but not understood, put in a way that the human mind can understand. So, in that aspect, they are real.
That does not make them personifications of anything.

The Greek Gods exist in the form of constellations, as many are named after them:

Of course they could be real, just as any of the other religious figures could be real. They are definitely real to those who believe in them. I wouldn't discount their existence as I wouldn't want others to discount what I believe in.

I don't think so, I haven't seen any evidence of it possibly being true. Also the worship of these Gods has ended for so much time, there is no one to tell tales of what Zues or Haides has done to them / for them.

Good grief, of course not. The Greek myths are called 'myths' for a reason. Just like the Christian myths will eventually be called myths when mankind increases his general wisdom and enlightenment.
