Angels are known for being good parents. They will take the eggs and the fry into their mouths to clean them but usually spit them back out. Normally you should be able to leave the parents in with the eggs. Reasons why they might be eating the eggs are: the eggs aren't fertilized so they won't hatch, the eggs have died and eating them prevents fungus, or they are a young pair that was artificially raised and they haven't figured out what they are supposed to do yet. Also, if you have other aggressive fish in the aquarium, or if there is too much activity going on inside or outside the aquarium, it could be stressing them into these odd behaviors. Give them a couple of tries at figuring the parenting thing out, and if they don't, you can try removing the slate the eggs are on into a seperate aquarium with good filtration (keep the eggs underwater during the move), and treat the water with an anti-fungal like MarOxy or Methaline Blue. If they still don't hatch, you may just have a pair that isn't able to produce good eggs.

Once they lay the eggs, either remove the eggs, or try keeping only the male in, or just the female. It's the same with bettas, the mother eats the eggs. Look it up, Angelfish breeding on google, or yahoo.

Are there other fish in the tank? they need to feel totally comfortable with the enviroment ,including the
ph balance of the tank or they will eat them. too many people paying attention to the tank? kids bugging them? all these are factors. contact your local fish store and take them a water sample for testing the ph. they can let you know what the fish require for a stable enviorement so they will raise the hatchlings. angles are very good parents. if you dont want the hassel breeding pairs are sought after and your fish store can surly find you a breeder that will happily pay you for your pair.

Ian is ideal. no remember how properly the father and mother had cared for his or her fry, they are going to turn on them in the adventure that they favor to. If I were you, i'd eliminate the older fry and placed them right into a separate tank, or your community angel tank. If there is adequate plant life and hiding areas on your community tank, then there should be no situation with the different angels bothering the children. Or, once you've a separate 10 or 20 gallon, you would possibly want to bypass the eggs to a distinct tank and look after them your self. a touch confusing, yet no longer no longer attainable! i'm hoping this became powerful, and strong luck with the children! :)

This is really grose but the truth. My fish do this all of the time. I have a big tank with a ton of different fish in there. Afetr labor the fish get hungry so you have to get another tank and if you have other fish in with the angel fish you have to do this: When she is about to go into labor or in Labor, put her in the other tank leaving the father in the first. When she is done, Put her back, but slowly or she will die. If you din't have other fish in with the angelfish do this: Leave her in there, and put the father in the other. He will Distract her. Anyway, wait until she is done and put her into the other tank with the father, if you din't she will start to look for him. She will want his presence afterwards.

They eat them because they are hungry . LOL
No, seriously, they are carnivorous. They even wait under fish having babies and snatch them as they come out .Put lots of plants into the tank so little fish can hide , otherwise you'll never have any . They ate all my sword tails . From a 150 I had just a few left . Maybe you can transfer the eggs into a nursery compartment . I bought mine at the pet store .
Good Luck, it's a fun hobby and very relaxing to watch the fish .
