I will have to say it must for some people. When we were growing up, if we saw my dad eat a banana, we new to stay away from him for the rest of the day, or risk getting stunk out by him. He only had this reaction to bananas.

Bananas don't usually cause intestinal gas but they can. If you have or have developed an allergy to bananas then gas is one possible side-effect. You might also note that if bananas are eaten after or with a fatty meal they may not be digested very quickly. Lack of digestion can cause a fermentation of the fruit (any fruit or vegetable) and this can cause gas.

Finally, bananas that are extremely ripe (i.e., those whose peel is covered with dark spots) are more likely to give you gas than are those which have just turned from green to yellow. This is due to the fact that firmer bananas have less pre-enzymatic activity taking place than those that are soft and spotted.

They actually have so much iron in them that some people get constipated from them. I'm surprised to hear it gives some people gas.
