I'm getting really pissed off because everyone thinks I'm emo, and I'm soo not! one of my friends was like "ooh I hate emo's! they annoy the **** out of me!... you're kind of emo..." I took it to mean I annoy the **** out of her, but I doubt she meant it. another friend was quoting "the emo song" and it says "the guys look like chicks and the chicks look like dykes" and then she says "you're so emo!" I took that to mean I look like a dyke. (I don't, honestly!) it's really getting to me and I don't get why they think this because I'm a very happy person and I don't really like emo music other than MCR, so really all it is is a fondness for black and red! please help mee!!!

How much do you care about "friends" that are happy to label in a way that pisses you off? Especially if you're that friendly with them that you can't be honest and tell them what you think of their labelling scheme.
Who are you? Who are you going to be?
Yourself? Or someone that mirrors the approval they seek in other people? Do you wish to fit the fashion of a group? A group who perhaps aren't truly that interested in you? Do you want people to focus on you, or just what you wear in response to fashion and provocation?
Your choice. Be yourself, or be what others dictate through their ridicule/labelling etc. Think about it. Free will or obey their will.

sweetie, you cant change who you are, and what you like. you can change your ignorant friends for more open-minded ones though. and luckily for you MCR isn't an emo band....so you dont have to worry about that. but they are the best band ever. you love black and red and be proud of it and be proud of who you are. If you say you aren't emo then u aren't emo. tell your friend that u dont like to be labeled...if that doesn work....label her....(example: eww I hate preps..they are so full of themselves and annoying, and care about nothing but abercrombie and pink.) thats just an example...piss her off back.

The days of emos have passed...all of the new kids are just seemos. The reason people like to label is because people try to fit into a label, but they elude the fact that they are actually trying to labeled, so when they are called something, they are offended. Everyone has different definitions of goth, punk, gangster...it's impossible to avoid people judging you by your appearance. Once you learn to live with that fact, stop worrying what people think about how you dress or who you are, then that is when you will be happy.

Don't stop dressing in your own way because others tell you to! Be comfortable in your clothes, express yourself but don't ever change for anyone! Find other friends if they only judge you on your clothes!!! Keep wearing black and red if you like it!!!

That simple quote should make them realize you are NOT emo.

People like you make me sick with your "Names" Emos, chavs, ect... Get over it!! You are what you are.... If a person calls you emo spit in there facei know i would or even get a heavy object (brick ect) and chuck it in there direction... they wont call you "emo" anymore...
