No, Birth control PREVENTS the egg from being fertilized. That means that no cell splitting ever happens. People like to make pro-lifers look stupid and come up with a ton of different things to show that "we too abort our babies".
It is not abortion to use birth control. I have WAY more respect for those that think ahead to prevent pregnancies they arent ready for than for those who dont prepare and then think its ok to kill the miracle of life that is beginning inside of them.

LOL, I got pregnant while on the birth control pills... and had my baby who is now 13 months old. LOL was that abortion? NO. So I just think that sounds silly. The pill is supposed to help prevent you from becoming pregnant- it's not 100% effective obviously. Abortion is killing the baby, the pill is trying to prevent a pregnancy that isn't even there. By taking the pill doesn't necessarily mean you will kill the baby... it could do damage if you don't stop taking it, but by all means, if you get preggo, you will prob have that baby as I did- a very healthy one too! ( I also stopped taking the pill asap and wasn't very far along at all- maybe a week)

I personally don't use BC but besides that, there are some forms of BC that let the egg implant and then end the pregnancy, like an IUD. Not every form of BC stops pregnancy altogether. And for the record, Masturbation would not be considered an abortion because it never fertilized an egg, it takes BOTH to make a baby. So yes there are some BC that allows you to become pregnant, even if only a few days and then "aborts" it. That is still stopping a life from continuing.

I haven't read enough of the research to have made my decision but there have been studies that people are talking about that basically say that there's a possibility that the birth control pill/patch/ring/etc. may be causing unrecognized miscarriages very early on in the fetal development.
My own personal opinion is that the birth control pill is supposed to trick you're body into thinking it's pregnant, so it doesn't release an egg to be fertilized. I'm very religious about taking my pill within the same time everyday, so I'm sticking to that until there is more solid research. I hope this answers your question or at least helps.

I don't think of birth control as abortion as I don't believe that preventing ovulation is taking a life.
I do think that the reverse is true - that some women whom I believe to be irresponsible, use abortion as their form of birth control. I'm talking about the women who choose to have 2 and 3 and 4 abortions instead of being more responsible with the pill or the patch. And I know they're out there, having encountered a few while in the course of my education (master's degree program in clinical psychology).
And no - I'm not a radical right-winger..more slightly to the left....

The birth control pill works in many ways (which is why it is very effective)
Firstly it prevents ovulation
Secondly it thickens cervical mucous to help prevent sperm from entering the uterus.
Third it "thins" the lining of the uterus to help prevent implantation of a fertilized egg.
Some people (particularly those against abortion for religious purposes) consider anything that prevents implantation abortion. They believe life starts at fertilization.
Now the chances of you ovulating and the sperm crossing the cervix to fertilize the egg is very slim, but it is still possible. However, use of the rhythm method (and in SOME ways natural family planning) can also be considered abortion as it relies on you having sex not only when ovulation is unlikely but also when implantation is unlikely.
So that is why some people consider it abortion, and some do not. In fact different interpretations of different bible passages can lead to different beliefs as well, but I am not a Christian so I will not get into it.

i'm against abortion. i've got confidence if somebody gets pregnant and would't shelter the baby for even though reason, then they could positioned it up for adoption. there are a large variety of folk who choose to undertake. yet i'm pleased with beginning administration. i think of the guy/human beings you're conversing approximately in all hazard does not understand human biology or how beginning administration works. There are some fundies obtainable who think of that to have organic desires is a sin, and additionally think of that beginning administration of any variety kills the unborn infant like abortion does. they don't understand that beginning administration prevents, no longer kills. they desire extra effective training so they gained't be so close-minded.

No, by using birth control you are preventing getting pregnant not killing a baby. Thats like saying condoms are in the same category as abortion which it is not.

birth control is acheived during conception, theres no such thing as controling birth, when it happens, it does
however when you choose to terminate a fetus, the birth that would have taken place is aborted, which means a human life was cut short, and who ever put these two issues in teh same package loves killing.
