I think a lot of people got turned off some of the other sections which tend to be haunted by a lot of trolls. (Politics and religion for example) - They just want pondered, thought-out answers to their questions and they found out people who frequent the philosophy section were unlikely to be just rude and flippant. So the philosophy section became kind of a haven for those who would escape the noise of the rest of the world. Isn't that poetic?

Our world just doesn't have the time to sit and think. I saw a teenager riding a bicycle, talking on a cell phone, with an i-pod ear piece in the other ear and Burger King in the basket.
Our society is geared toward giving an opinion and then not listening to feedback.

Because they want answers. Philosophy has a tendency to fall into endless debate without actually answering the question.

Philosophy is the love of knowledge. Anything pursuing knowledge should be philosophy, and therefore they are probably right in posting here.

Haha, I really don't think most people even know what philosophy is!!! That is why, I believe, this occurs.
Don't sweat it though. Overall, people really are not that intelligent.

Because they don't care. Or because when Y!Answers tries to pick a category for you, they don't always get it right. And some people don't take the time to change it...
