Well, if you know the approx price of the perfume, you have an idea of what she's willing to spend. Maybe you could come up with a few ideas of "basic" things, that she could get- CD or DVD ideas, gloves (and remind her that your coat is brown)- simple things that will be easy for her to get, that you want or use, and specific enough so she won't waste her time and money on something you won't use.

I would ask for some sort of Christmas ornament or decoration. Something more extravagant then I would buy for myself....like a Steuben ornament. Or better yet start a sterling sleigh bell ornament collection with the year engraved on the bell.

I would think your future mother in law would think it is really special you want to build a holiday collection for her son's new home AND it would be a great way for you to build up your herloom quality Christmas ornaments.

I'm pretty certain that you should be as honest as possible with your future mother in law (or you and she won't have much of a future!). Give her some specific ideas. My mother in law asked me that same thing one year and I facetiously told her an an all-expense 6 month trip to Europe would be nice. Then I told her I had been looking forever for a pair of black wool slacks. (Don't forget to ask her what she would like for Christmas!)

I would tell her what I wanted. What do you want? A particular CD or DCD perhaps? A gift cert for a certain store or restaurant? A coat? Scarf? Gloves? Leather boots? A robe? Slippers?

it depends on what u r like. u want 2 make a good impression so try not to ask for somthing sleesy or sexy. also dont ask for somthing that will be 2 kiddish like. try asking for somthing like a gift certificate, she wont know what u get then. ask 4 a gift certificate 2 a mall, or a place like bath & body works

That always sucks!!! Be honest with her, tell her about a new c.d. you might want a book. If you like her well enough maybe you can ask for a lunch date with her at some nice place. When people ask, it is usually because they really want to know what you might like to have. You know what you might like to buy for yourself, be modest when answering, I wouldn't ask for something too extravagant.
Merry Christmas!!

You would be better off to say something like "Oh, I'm not picky, anything will do" or say something like "Oh, you don't have to get me anything but if you do, just get me something for my house like a candle, picture, etc." Your going to have to make yourself appear humble and nice. DON'T say something like "I would really like some of those designer jeans" or "my birthstone is a diamond".

tell her you'd like to start a tradition.
each year you'd like something to add to your tree.
so it would be a very special ornamant every year.
then you woud also remember each and every xmas event
and pass it along to your children
