This is not an RH question, just a typical blood type. Did a search and was unable to find such an easy question, so wanted to give this a try.

I did some research for you. I typed up babies blood type on the Internet, and up popped this neat site. Its called Human Blood Types, ABO It even told how blood types are passed down by the parents. It gives charts and you can then, have an estimate of what your babies blood type will be.

Genetics was my favorite part of biology :)

It works like this, A and B are both dominatne, O is recessive. Take me as an example, my mother is A, my father is O. My father has two O genes, that is why he is O. He can't have any other or the O would not have presented. My sister has O, so she got one O from my father, and one O from my mother, meaning my Mother must be Ao.

I am type A, so I got one A from my mother (which presented because its dominante) and one O from my father (all he had to give me). My husband is B. I could theortically have a child with *any* blood type.

I have Ao, my husbad has Bo, he could give our child a B and I give an O and the child would be B. I could give an A and my husband an O and we have an A (which we do). I could give an A and my husband a B and we would have an AB (again we do), or could each give an O and have an O.

So in short, depending on the combinations, a child could be the same as a parent or different.

From what I understand. Yes the baby blood type will either be the same as the mother or father or a mix of the two.

Definatley not a stupid question. I had to do some searching to just to make sure. Its a combination. Near the bottom of this link it has a table that shows Genetic Inheritance Patterns

I have type A my daughters father has type B and my daughter ended up with type AB

Each biological parent donates one of their two ABO alleles to their child. A mother who is blood type O can only pass an O allele to her son or daughter. A father who is blood type AB could pass either an A or a B allele to his son or daughter. This couple could have children of either blood type A (O from mother and A from father) or blood type B (O from mother and B from father).

This isn't a dumb question. I wondered the same thing. Kept forgetting to ask my doctor then I got my answer. My kids don't have hubby's or my blood types. They have a mix. Kinda odd but they do. All 3 of them. Good luck

That's not a dumb question at all! The baby could have a completely different bloodtype, since you each give half your genes, and bloodtype is determined by a pair of genes.

Each of us has two ABO blood type alleles, because we each inherit one blood type allele from our biological mother and one from our biological father. A description of the pair of alleles in our DNA is called the genotype.

They have a mixture of the parents blood, mine is AB+ my dads was AB- and my moms was B- so mine became AB+. They do not have just one parents blood type though.
