I lost my pack and I can't get it for another week (I don't want to pay the non-insurance-covered price). I have my period now, but it will be gone by then. Can I start my new pack when I get it even though it's a t no particular time (ie not at the beginning or end of my period)?

ps. I use it mainly to regulate my period. I want it to do its job, but I'm not as worried about getting pregnant.

I once altered my period. I was planning on going on a cruise and it just so happens to land on the day Im suppose to start my period. SO..... i decided that my period was going to have to wait a week. when I got to the green pill (the ones you take during your period) I skipped them and started taking my BC pills for next month. My stomach had a slight crampy feeling but other than that.... it worked.... its ok to do it once in a while.... your period will get back on track usually.

Yeah, sure, although this will shift your periods. It's not going to harm you to take a week off, BUT...

You are not protected against pregnancy, for a period stretching from the time you would have started the lost pack until *at least* a week after you start the new pack. Use a condom or abstain during this time. Your brand of pills will have instructions on how long you will need to use backup BC in the section on when you first take the pill.

You may spot more than you are used to, as your body will be getting conflicting hormonal signals.

I think you can start your new pack right away when you get it but am not sure. When you pick up your new pack the instructions should tell you what to do in that situation.

You can start taking them...just wait til the end of your period and start that following Sunday. No point in strting them once your period comes.

you can start it whenever, just realize that for the first month or two, your period might be a little irregular, but will get back on track by the 3rd month.

yes you can if pregnancy is not an issue but it will change the time that you get your menstrual cycle each month.
