Don't eat or drink right before you run and stretch. I still sometimes get them and I just take a second stretch with my arms above my head, take a few big breaths and withing 5-10 seconds I'm back on track.
To get faster interval training you should look it up on the net but it's basically running faster for short periods of time then gradually increasing the time and speed of the intervals.
