Listen, you have to try everything twice!! You might even like it!! Its not likely that you will ever get the opportunity to try pigeon again so I say go for it.

Its not wrong, meat is meat, Lions eat other animals, we eat other animals, its the way of the world - how is it wrong to eat pigeon but not wrong to eat lamb (you obviously havent opted for the vegetarian dishes else you wouldnt have got pigeon on your menu - thus Im assuming your not a veggie and you eat those little lambs and those cute pink piggies etc) and somewhere on that menu there is bound to be 'ducks liver pate' which is just heaven.

Besides, the pigeon is not going to come from the local park (unless your going to some dodgy restuarant!!! lol)

Just try it, be daring, live a little!!!!!

You can't lose anyway, the pigeon is only a starter, so there will be more to follow if you dont like it or if you can't go through with the eating of it!!!

The pigeon you get in restaurants is not the kind of pigeon you get in the streets. That truly would be disgusting! X-P We had two dead pigeons in our water tank for a while, and whenever we had baths we would come out smelling worse! It was rank!

It's usually wild pigeon, such as wood pigeon, that is fatter and more tender than the stringy, bony, diseased type you are thinking of.

I can see where you're coming from, because pigeons are everywhere, and you don't want to think of eating one, because they are so common. Rest assured it will NOT be street pigeon, and they will probably be farmed for an eating purpose. If you disagree with eating caged birds, then it may be possible to find out if they are free range.

Oh, and for the record, pigeons taste a bit like chicken, but gamier. My aunt told me this ages ago, and it's just something that's stuck with me.

Yes its wrong to eat pigeon on a warm salad. Eat the pigeon and leave the salad alone.

If you eat other meat why not eat pigeon?

You eat cute little baa lambs, I imagine.

You eat nice friendly moo cows?

And little piggies?

And of course chicken little . . . . On a daily basis, unless you are a vegetarian.

All that have been reared in varying extremes of cruelty. So, what's the difference between those creatures and a pigeon? Only a hypocrite would think there was a difference. At least pigeons are not intelligent, unlike pigs who are extremely clever creatures and truly suffer in factory farms.

* I say this as a meat eater myself. The times I have eaten pigeon it's been really nice!

PS I take it that your "wrong" refers to the idea of eating pigeon and not to the combination of pidgeon and warm salad . . . . .

Sounds a lot more appetising than factory farmed turkey full of antibiotics and other crap. Why is it wrong to eat pigeon yet OK to eat (say) lamb?
I think the warm salad sounds dodgier to tell the truth!

Yes i'd eat it and have done before. There won't be masses of it on your plate as they are only small birds. Probably about half a chickens breast worth if that. It tastes a pretty much like chicken (doesn't everything!) but with a more gamey flavour, and its darkish pink meat. It will have been a wild one living in the countryside not a flea bitten, polluted city variety. Try it you might like it, and if you don't i'm sure they can bring you something else.

Sounds interesting, I'd eat it for sure. What's the difference - chicken, pigeon, cornish game hen. You must be a vegetarian then or is it only wrong to eat pigeon and not pigs or cows?

I wouldn't eat it either. I'll eat chicken and turkey, but not pigeon or duck. Can't you ask if there's an alternative? If the meal is being paid for, you should have a choice. Make a stand

Do you eat meat? If so why is it wrong to eat other animals but not pigeon? It's just a small bird that will look nothing like what it is when it's on your plate! Why not try it just to see,you might be pleasantly surprisd. But if you really don't want to try it ask for an alternative.

My dad goes shooting once a week at a farm and often shoots wood pigeon, phesants etc and brings them home to clean, cook and eat. In our culture it's not seen as wrong to eat these things. You have to watch out for the pellets though!!!
