You can try ebay and if you are really interested in your '46 lionel train set there is a price guide out in stores called Greenberg's Guides Lionel Trains 2007 Price Guide. They cost between $12.00 thru $17.00 and Walmart, Amazon.com, Bestproces.com, and Barnes and Nobles have them.

If it has all of its parts, 500 bucks up is a good price for that, I like trains so I am at the hobby shop a lot.
