First off, your CPU doesnt store files! Its the brain of your computer! Its a chip on your motherboard! Your hard drive stores files! My advice? Spend a couple bucks at the local college for a basic computer course before you spend a fortune gettin your PC fixed because you dont know what you are doing!

You can download a program called Easyrecovery from www.nai.com it's $99.00, it's the simplest, or there's a freebie program called recovery is possible or RIP.

Just between me and you , if you are using that same machine to surf the net now , you are mowing over your data as we speak. It's best you turn the PC in question off until you have your programs ready. You will also need a LARGE flash drive or external Hard drive to recover the files to...you can't save them to the same drive it's trying to recover from.

If you wiped the drive (formatted) the computer deletes everything off your hard drive! Too bad but EVERYTHING is gone all your songs and Windows or whatever OS. You'll have to reinstall the OS, if the OS was on the partition.
