Okay well I have fixed my other problems.. cut wires from ecu. Now my mechanic found that he put water in my gas tank. He said he has to drian it. After he does that should my car be fine? I only got it to run about 3 min trying to get it to start before I had found out what was wrong. Do you think that could have cause enough water to get in my cylinders?

If you have full coverage insurance I suggest you get a statement from your mechanic if you have full coverage. This happened to my sister , her boyfriend put water in her tank but she drove her pickup till the engine blew up and was able to get it rebuilt and the insurance paid for it. So it can potentially ruin your engine if not caught in time.

addition> my mistake one of the other answers reminded me my sisters truck did have sugar put in her tank which ruin her motor. But this may be something to check into none the less to save repair bills.

Car will be fine... No harm done...

Fixed one recently like that. If there is a lot of water in the tank the mechanic can pump out the tank then bypass the pump relay to keep the pump on and empty the remaining fuel (water) in the system through the fuel injection pressure test port under the hood. You have to get the lines cleared of water to get the motor to start. (Water settles to the bottom at the pump pickup screen)

I use a product called "Seafoam" it works very well in the system to clean and remove water. There is a Diesel Fuel treatment that has Butyl Ether or Butyl Cellosolve in it. 8 oz bottle treats 500 gallons diesel, works GREAT in water laden gas systems. Alcohol works too (heet, etc...) but not as well as the B.E.

Summary... if you know it is just a little water, less than a quart or so, Butyl Ether and fresh gas. If much more pump it out and start fresh with a can or two of HEET or SEAFOAM.

depends on how much water was put into the tank. If only little bit was put in, the water would of turned into steam during combustion but seems like the tank was drained in time in case of hydro-locking was to occur. probably get a locking gas cap if he doesn't know how to pick locks. Some cars have a feature where you have to get inside the car to even open the fuel door. Some locking gas caps can cause the check engine light to come on though

I would first of all
1) Press charges against him
2) Get a restraining order

Your car will be fine, just for god's sake don't drive it until it's fixed. Oh and check your brake lines. I would also run 92 Octane through it a few times or 93 if you can find it. Maybe a fuel additive that has alcholol also. Alcohol binds with water and will remove it.

Sorry to hear you have a psycho Ex. But remember, when a problems comes along, YOU MUST WHIP IT!!

This is not good..... Of course... And YES you got Water in your engine...

I would have to ask what year and model of car... But you stated it has and ECU so we know its a newer style car.. That should have fuel injected system...

Change your Oil and filter also Replace Fuel Filter before trying to start engine again...

If more than 5oz's of water went through the sysytem things will rust inside fuel lines, pump, and most important the injectors ... Do what "WHO" stated Heet will cut down on rust and dry up the lines after you've cleaned the system...

Cleaning your system your mechanic should know how to flush the system by disconnecting injectors line and running the fuel pump. JUST DON'T BLOW AIR THROUGH THE LINE after water has gone throught it..

If you have full coverage insurance this would fall under Vandalism...

Nah, just let the mechanic drain the tank, then put a nice dose of super premium in it, and get a locking gas cap. I hope you have alerted authorities about that nutjob ex of yours.

Drain the tank and fuel system. Heet will help. Depending on the car, the fuel system hopefully caught the water.

This is a question for that mechanic. I would suggest having a locking gas cap installed and keeping my car locked at all times.

just have them go through and pump drain all the gas systems. then put gas in it and start it up again. i did it once and the car ran beautifully. really it's just water. if u get it out before it rusts any metals u'll be fine.
