I borrowed an ohmms meter from my school and im having trouble with it. When ever i bring the two probes to the metal I am testing which is copper the reading doesnt stop. It seems to be to sensitive and the reading just keeps changing and sometimes just goes to zero. Can you tell me a teqnique I can do or anything so i can get a reading. Thanks

As I said in my answer to your other question, be sure you are making a firm connection. By how much is the reading changing? If it's a digital meter, each reading is a separate measurement, and any series of measurements will show at least some differences.

Analog meter: Try touching the two probes together and zero the meter with the adjustment knob - it isn't unusual to have to zero the meter when switching scales.
If it is a digital ohm meter, it will not have an adjustment. Simply touch the probes together and you should get a zero or a very low reading - 0.1 or 0.2 ohms.
If you don't - check each lead by disconnecting one and sticking the other lead into the terminal - try this with both leads - if you don't get a zero or very low reading, check the batteries. If the batteries are OK and the meter still acts foolish - it's not you, it's the meter.

just a piece of copper? It must show 0 for sure, and don’t discharge batteries, because all metals have very high conductivities. And probes are made of metal too. To know specific resistance of copper you have to take a copper wire some 100 yards long and as thin as a hair.
