Its a 2 way thing but to be honest thats a shallow way to pick friends. I tend to either click with people or I don't and thats what I base friendships on xxx

Neither. I made my friends many years ago, but now we've all got different trades so we can help each other.
If someone tried to become friends just because I could do something for them it wouldn't be a true friendship.

Neither...I pick them based on how they make me feel or rather how I feel when I'm around them

I don't make a conscious effort to pick my friends. I just hang with people I like.

I also enjoy helping people, I usually make friends because I have been able to help them with something.
Often they will help me with something in the future, so it's a win-win situation.
Anyone need any help?

Most of the time on what I can do for them and just if they are nice people. I would much rather give than receive, makes me happier
