Aderol is a schedule 2 narcotic, it is an amphetamine. If you buy this type of drug on the street, it is known as a meth-amphetamine...most people will call it crank, speed, ice ,etc.
One reason why it may have an unfair disadvantage in the sports world is because it causes the constant release of adrenaline in the brain, which in initial use will cause the average person to be very focused. Long term user's can have very bad effects from use.
This player got in trouble because it is a controlled substance and of course those are banned in professional leagues.

I wouldn't think it would help with sports performance. Especially if it is an intense sport involving running, since adderall can cause increased heart rate, which can lead to heart problems if misused.
For me, adderall helps with my academic performance and overall it keeps me focused on what I am doing, since I was diagnosed with adhd about a year ago.
