Or can leaks be fixed by replacing individual parts? It runs just fine when it has transmission fluid in it. But it is rapidly leaking. I do not have the money for a whole new transmission - plus it's ten years old and not worth the $ or effort.

There will only be three main sorces of the leakage. The oil pan, rear main seal, and front seal. The oil pan would be the least expensive to repair, probably under 75 bucks. The rear seal would cost more if you have 4 wheel drive (the transfer case has to be removed). If it's the front seal, the whole transmission has to be removed---300 to 500 bucks.

no a seal could be ruptured which would cause a leak or a hose for your transmission fluid might be lose which would also cause a leak.

If it is a bad transmission they can be costly depending on if it is an automatic or manual. A manual is normaly more expensive then a automatic when it comes to replacements.

I did not respond to this it was my Fiance who is a Mechanic In Training but he has taken classes on transmissions.

How did you comprehend it really is a transmission leak? Is the fluid 'pink' and smell really humorous? If no longer, then it really is likely oil that the service tech spilled on the engine and that's dripping down. examine your transmission oil element in accordance to Chrysler's classes and keep a examine on the engine oil. it really is conceivable that they tech did not get the drain plug again in properly or tight adequate. Take it again to the keep and performance them examine it at the same time as you watch.

Maybe not. You may just have rotting transmission lines, which are fairly inexpensive. This happened to mine after eleven years.

First you need to find out where it is leaking from. If it leaks from the drain pan, then you can get a new one. You need to find out for sure.

The best thing you can do is take it too a shop. I would have it towed, otherwise you risk further damage.
