Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm, from Grand Rapids) played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and was a singer. (My dad saw her preform on stage at the local Rialto theater when she was 2 years old. Her parents used to let her sing & dance during intermissions.)
