omg no way you are totally like I was.I havent personally started my period yet but I have started shaving my legs and those two things were very hard to talk to my mom about.
Well i told her I wanted to start shaving my legs while me and her were on our daily walk and i just brought up the subject shaving and first telling her that all the kids in my class did it and i needed to start to and surprisingly she said yes.
Sometimes Moms want you to start the subject about periods and shaving because they are scared to bring it up 2!
I hope this helped you!

I was the same way, and my mom was not very nice to me, so I was concerned she would either say something mean or embarrass me by talking to her friends. Then my best friend started menstruating and her crazy hippie mom started talking about how beautiful it was and singing and stuff, so that freaked me out even more. My friend's mom actually threw a party for her and announced it in front of all of us, because she was crazy. Whatever you do, don't watch the Stephen King movie Carrie before you tell her. Well, now you will, but you will probably laugh and feel much better about asking your mom:) Here's what happened to me, and I had a really crazy mean mom, so it will probably be much better for you. When I asked her if I could shave my legs, she said, "Okay, but make sure you use alot of soap and go slow." If you can afford shaving balm, then use it instead of soap. If you cut yourself, don't worry, it will sting and you will need a bandaid (unless it's like filling up the bathtub or something, lol). Then call 911. Most moms will probably help you like someone else said. Before I started my period, I took some of my mom's pads and put them under the sink just in case. So when I did start, I was at home and it was no big deal. I was scared though, because my mom taught at a catholic school and when a girl asked "When do I know when I will start my period?" my mom screamed, "You'll see a bunch of marks that look like sh*t on your panties!" She said it out loud in front of a bunch of boys too, so I was scared. Anyways, when I started I just got a pad from underneath the sink. (You don't have to take the whole package from your mom, just take a couple and you can even hide them somewhere if you feel like it.) Afterwards, I went downstairs and calmly told my mom that I had started my period. She went a little crazy and started asking me if I had pads, but I told her I already had some and figured it out. It wasn't a big deal at all. A little embarrassing for the getting the period, but shaving the legs was not bad at all. Just try to use shaving cream or something instead of soap, lol:)

I don't know you or your family, but I don't understand why it should be scary at all (to tell your mom). It's a part of life and growing up for females. She should definitely be told. Don't wait until your next period. There's no reason for anyone to treat you differently other than making sure you have appropriate sanitary products to use during your period. She may also get into some talks about sex (or deeper talks than in the past) as you are now capable of becoming pregnant.

I was the same way when I was younger. It's ok. As long as you stay calm it'll be ok. Just bring up the shaving legs thing causually one night, she'll probably even want to help you get it right. And about your period it's ok. Just stay calm and simply walk up to her and tell her. When I first got my period I spotted for a day or two and I wasn't sure if that was my period if I was being crazy so I waited then the flow really started and although I was so scared. I just simply walked from the bathroom to the livingroom where my mom was alone and told her "mom. I started my period" And it was all perfectly fine. Trust me this is just one of those things you've GOT to do so there's no reason to get nervous about it.

Hi, i was the same way. I actually didnt tell my mom about my period until the 2nd time it came and that was because we were at a department store and it happened and i was scared.
Dont worry, its nothing to be imbarrassed about, it happens to your mom too, plus she will be there to help you out....ask her if you have questions i know it can be akward but its better than being scared and not know whats going on with your body! Also ask her if you can start shaving your legs? that shouldnt be a big deal as long as your at least a sixth grader

Don't be scared to tell your Mom about getting your period. After all she's been in your position so she knows how you feel.
I told my Mom like the very second I got mine, it was a bit embarrassing to tell her. But it was easier to tell her right away then keep it a secret and tell her later on.
And about the leg shaving thing, just tell her you want to start. And if she isn't comfortable of you shaving, ask if you can use the hair removal cream instead.

Good luck ^_^

being scared is normal. Your growing up and belive it or not your mom has been there. She can help you with any questions you have about the things that are about to change in your life. She will be more understanding and helpful than you think. Starting your period just means that your growing up and your starting your next faze in your life. Your a teen. Part of growing up and doing all that means you should be able to shave your legs too i'm sure she will understand i would if i were her and i would want my daughter to come to me about it.

Why are you scared? Your mom went through all this, so she can give you advice on what to do and what not to do. Now is the time when you can really get close with your mom. Take advantage of this. If she isn't the type of person that is that way, then maybe you can ask a friend's mom for advice. But I would recommend that you become totally honest with your mom, and let her know of your concerns and questions. Just remember, one day your mom won't be there anymore, so as I said, take advantage of this time of your life while you can. Best of luck to you.......

Shaving your legs, just tell your mom that you feel you need to and she will probably understand. As for the period i recently got mine too. I told my mom when we went on a walk, it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. She talked to me and i got it over with.
