I have thought about this and sometimes it seems like the ones who answer first have a better chance at getting best answer...How important really do you think that is? I know that when some people vote for undecided questions they just go for the first one they see...is it a question (no pun..LOL) of statistics or the law of averages at work? Just wondering...

I like to be the first to answer some questions where there is no gray area in their answer. There's no need in being the 15th person to give a yes or no answer, if the asker can't get the picture from 14 yesses, don't waste your time, yours isn't gonna trip the switch to their little light bulb.

Others, i don't mind being down the line because sometimes it helps to see what others have posted and maybe you can agree and elaborate on correct answers or you can offer evidence to refute ones you know to be incorrect.

I've noticed this too & I do think that especially in voting, the first answer does have an advantage. It seems like not many want to take time to read through the responses & that's a shame. I like to do that. It's fun & interacting with others is why I'm here. I won't vote for anything unless I've read ALL the question & every last response.

That's just me though & it does seem that this is a minority stance though. Have a great day! ♥

I don't think the first answer is always the best answer. Sometimes, when I ask a question...I think I have picked the best answer as I am reading the responses...but...then I get to the very last answer and it just blows me away!

it really depends on the question. if it is a question dealing with opinion or advice, usually the best answer to the asker and others is chosen, but when the question is an absolute answer question like "what is the name of this song", then usually whoever puts down the right thing first gets the best answer.

Totally agree people r too lazy to scroll through and find the best answer and tend to go for number one.

I think it depends on if the person feels like reading all of them, or if one just struck them as the right answer and it happened to be first.

It depends on the quality of your answer. I have answered last and got best answer and answered first and didn't get best answer. Give good answers and it doesn't matter which order you answer in.

No, actually the most intelligent question askers always award the points to the second answer. The first answer is only first because it was hastily prepared, rather than well thought out like this one!

tigerlily! your so awesome! just thought i'd let you know... : )

i think it does when it goes into voting, people tend to get lazy and just scroll down to the first answer and pick, and when someone is to lazy to pick a real best answer
