My suggestion is to stop having sex with men that are losers. Be more selective when choosing your one night stands, lol, and you'll find that you won't have any more problems like this one. Women like you are the VERY REASON that the court system is so clogged with bullsh!t lawsuits as it is. Grow up, get a job, and support your OWN child. I know women who work 3 jobs to support their kids, and you sit there EXPECTING the legal system to rectify your bad choices. Let me guess, you get foodstamps AND Medicaid too, right? Well, I'll be waiting for your THANK-YOU CARD in the mail, because it's people like me that make it possible for people like you to even RECEIVE legal services that you don't deserve. Give me a break. Stop walking the earth with your HAND OUT.

That attorney needs to show documentation of that deadbeat not working. There is a way, but you need any attorney and a court order, but you can request any and all income tax paperwork, and also you can get a history of employment through the Social Security Administration. Even if he did not work, he is still liable for the support. Its deadbeats like him, that give good fathers that pay support a bad name.

When I went through a similar situation (I was the one receiving the support) I wasn't working but the courts ordered my wage be set at minimum wage because I was capable of earning at least that much. This, in effect, lowered the child support I got. That is a thought for you. Why can't the courts order that for those 3 years and he at least pay support in arrears based on minimum wage for that time. It would be a bit of money for you, once you eventually get it, and it would solve things with regard to the lawyers arguing. After all, the lawyers are the ones making the money, not us, so it is a suggestion. Prayers =)

Your attorney's job is not to protect his interests in this case, but rather to serve as an enthusiastic advocate of your interests. If you want to force his hand, you could remind him of that fact. HOWEVER, if your ex husband didn't work during that time and can prove he had no income whatsoever, then it's going to be very hard to win your case at all. The equation for value paid is generally dependant on the income earned. Zero income = not much to pull support from

It would seem to me that unless your ex was in jail all that time, then he is presumed employed/employable and will be responsible for back child support regardless of whether he actually worked or not. I'm no expert, but I would expect a ruling in your favor.
