I use to use Zone Alarm, then uninstalled it due to trying to download another Program. Apparently I did not do a clean uninstalling because tech help for IE7 is not able to help me get IE7 on my computer, something is blocking it. Tech is very sure it is Zone Alarm uninstalled incorrectly. Since I am a computer novice, I'm sure they are correct. I have no idea where to go from here.

Usually most program uninstall 100%. There are programs that will uninstall the majority of the software, but will leave some files or fragments behind. (I use zone alarm for over nine years an all updated new versions remove the old version an install the new version automatic).

Go to start run, and type in: c://program files, click on browse, click on program files and open. Look for zonealarm, open and see if you can delete the file. (If you have rebooted prior to performing this task, the file should delete. Owise, will say, "file in use unable to delete").

You can also go to start search for files, type in: zonealarm, and scan your system. If there are any files your system will bring them up and you can delete all of them.

The best way is going to run as this will remove the entire file with any codes left behind.

Good luck,

You may want to reinstall Zone Alarm and after Rebooting (Req'd by the intstallation), uninstall it.

Zone Alarm does not prevent downloading of installation programs like IE7. If IE7 is not installing from Windows Updates, try downloading it from the Internet Explorer page from Mircosoft, it's about 14megs.

I used to have Zone Alarm several years and everything was fine til I tried remove it, only part came out, I was not getting any ZA tech help, they did not give logical answer that worked...I couldn't even get on internet. ..all files everything was out--so I sent it to HighJack This. It was being blocked by spyware--got it out and run CCleaner...no more problems with it. I did not reinstall it.

Internet Explorer blows chunks anyways. Download Firefox. It's better, safer and has all the "perks" Microsoft is now trying to take credit for.

I do not understand why you would delete zonealarm. It is the best firewall.
