I have recently rediscovered knitting and have come to the conclusion that it is like cooking: you need to start with good ingredients (and, in my case, keep it simple). I am trying to find an online source of quality wool yarn at manufacturer's or outlet prices (I did try google searches keep getting the same sites). I am also open to other solutions. Thanks.

My fave "plain old wools" are Elann's Peruvian Highland at http://www.elann.com and Knitpick's Wool of the Andes at http://www.knitpicks.com . Both relatively inexpensive but knit up beautifully. The Peruvian comes in several different weights, too.

you at the instantaneous are not likely to discover anybody kind that has the utmost high quality of all yarns. each and every ought to have one or 2 traces of first-classification, and that is what they are conventional for. yet you'll do nicely with knitpicks. Their high quality is rather intense, and expenditures not very intense in any respect. Bernat has sturdy cotton, as does Curl Brothers. you will get some rather effective yarns at Elan, yet they carry about many alternative manufacturers. you'll in simple terms favor to move searching and discover what you want... each and every people have some numerous issues we seem for in yarns. What i love isn't what you ought to favor to apply, and that is tremendous too. move on your community yarn shop, go searching, and observe which agencies seem to provide the nicest yarns on your applications as we talk.

I have not used knitpicks but a lot of people on my Yahoo knitting group love it.

www.smileysyarns is a site I have used a lot. Good source for low-priced brand name yarn; good prices, good service.

(Smiley's has warehouse sales where you need to purchase a minimum quantity but this is not required for internet sales).
