.I think that reincarnation is a totally plausible idea, although it makes more sense if you believe in karma as well. The two ideas go together very well. Buddhism has a very well thought out and coherent ideas about karma and reincarnation (they call it rebirth). The Buddhists believe that as you move thru life you accumulate karma, be it good or bad. This karma that you accumulate influences what happens to you both in this life and the next. If you lead a good life you will be reborn as a better person and it thru this cycle (called Samsara- the cycle of birth, death and rebirth) that you become enlightened.
Past life regression (using hypnotism to travel back to past lives) has some amazing stories. There are people that have never in their lives traveled outside of the US who are regressing back into past lives where they are speaking a regional Indian dialect from 300 years ago. There are a number of people who do very credible past life regressions and actually go out and fact check the stories that people give them while under hypnosis.
I think that in the grand scheme of things it would be a little ignorant to believe that we are born and then die and that is it. In some respects there has to be more to it. All the major religions (Islam, Christianity and Judaism) have passages in their scriptures that relate to reincarnation, and almost all Eastern Religions have a very big belief in both Karma and Reincarnation. The Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, and Jainists all believe in reincarnation, as do many regional Chinese religions and those in Tibet as well

I wouldn't say it's stupid but I would say that I think everyone has to believe in something. I personally believe in what the Bible teaches. I think if someone believes in reincarnation and it causes them to do good things in life that makes other people's lives better then so be it. If it makes them do things like fly airplanes into very tall buldings for the sake of the belief I'd say they need to get a grip.
I don't think I have ever met anyone with any proof of it.

I'm not going to be like the ignorant people on here and say "it's stupid, just plain stupid" because I don't know if reincarnation exists. Nobody does unless they're dead. So I'm gonna say, I don't know if it's true or not but I would like to believe that it is, I love the Buddhist belief that you're reincarnated as many times as you need to be before you reach enlightenment. I think its a peaceful idea (and I consider myself Christian). And people, STOP SAYING OTHERS BELIEFS ARE STUPID! IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN REINCARNATION THEN ALL OF ASIA AND A LOT OF OTHER CULTURES MIGHT THINK YOU'RE STUPID, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BELIEVE IN IT, JUST SHOW RESPECT!

I think reincarnation makes total sense. It explains so many things in the world...like why bad things happen to good people OR why bad people get away with horrible crimes. The souls of the first have "chosen" a life to pay for crimes in past lives and those in the second category are less evolved souls that will have to pay for their crimes in future incarnations before they can move on.
I liken it to an evolutionary process that involves the soul. We start out as basic, primitive souls and over time and many incarnations our souls "evolve" and become enlightened, eventually moving on to a higher plane.

No proof.
Lovely comforting fuzzy wuzzy concept that brings oodles of warmth into my heart if I imagine I believed in it for a few seconds.
The concept is a search for comfort and has no evidence.
There is no evidence against it either of course however, scientifically you don't look for proof in the negative as such. The burden of proof rests upon it's existence not proof that it doesn't.
Until it's proven beyond all reasonable doubt I ignore it, it's not real.

Everyone have their beliefs about it. Some believe it does exist and others don't. It's all about what you believe. And what does this have to do with current events.
