My personal service provider is Sprint, but I really like the look of the new Blackjack by Cingular. If I managed to get my hands on one, would there be any way that Sprint could activate it for me to use? Is there some sort of chip that need be removed?

yeah... The Blackjack is great! I can see why you want it... but sorry to the other answerer... it's not possible to use on Sprint's network. You see... Sprint (CDMA) and Cingular (GSM) use a different kind of technology and their equipment is not compatible. So... I guess you'll just have to get Cingular! :) Hope that helps!

No No No, please do not listen to the 1st post, EDIT - And now the 3rd post too!! that info is SO wrong LOL Sprint and Cigular work on 2 different technologys. Sprint is CDMA, Cingular is GSM. It can not be done

Even if they were compatible technologys, Sprint would still not allow you to do it. With Sprint, it must be a Spring branded phone or they will not activate it.

Do some searches on it and find out if people are "unlocking" the model phone you have. Type "Blackjack unlocked" and other variations. Good luck.
