Math Homework!! 4 easy questions!?
1. She bought one for 60% off the regular price of $31.50. How much did she save? How much did she pay?
60% = 0.60 x 31.50. She saved 0.60 x 31.50 and she paid 0.40 x 31.50.

2. Salvador paid $27.50 for a catcher's mask that was on sale. The regular price was $36.90. What was the discount?

new price / old price = number / 100. 27.50/36.90 = what? * 100 this is the per-cent, or per-100.

3. Kai-Ju saved $40 to buy a tennis racket that regularly sells for $59.99.She read an ad that announced a 25% discount on the racket. Has she saved enough money to buy it? If so, how much will she have left over? If not, how much more does she need?

25% off means she'll pay 75% of 59.99. 75% = 0.75 * 59.99. What is that?

4.Ryan went into a hardware store that had a 20%-off sale. His two purchases originally had prices of $38.75 and $7.90. How much did Ryan save because of the sale?

0.20 * 38.75 and 0.20 * 7.90. Add the two results.

1. 0.6 is equal to 60% so 0.6 x 31.5 =18.9. So the discount is $18.90 off. The price she paid is $31.50 - 18.90 = $12.60.

2. 27.50/36.90 = x/100. You have to set up a proportion, 27.50 over 36.90 is what percentage of 100? Solve for x. 36.9x = 2750. x = 74.5. So 27.50 is roughly 75% of 36.90. The sale was a 25% discount.

3. .25 is equal to 25% so .25 x 59.99 = $15. The sale price would be 59.99 - 15 = $44.99.

4. $38.75 x .2 = $7.75
$7.90 x .2 = $1.58. 7.75 + 1.58 = $9.33.

This is so you know how to do the problems for next time. Basic algebra is important and will commonly be used throughout your life.

1. 0.6 is equal to 60% so 0.6 x 31.5 =18.9. she saved $18.90 off. she paid $31.50 - 18.90 = $12.60.

2. 27.50/36.90 = x/100.

Um... since they're easy (YOUR word, not mine), you should be doing them.

Why not post a question specifying where you are confused? Take ONE of these and show your work as far as you can so that others can see where you're getting stuck. That's a much better way to actually learn this. If we look carefully at ONE problem, and really help you LEARN it, you can do the others yourself.

Also -- why didn't you ask your teacher for help when you were in class?

for the first one multiply .6x31.50. that will give you how much she saves. then subtract-31.50-the number you just got. that will give you how much she spends.

the second one divide 27.50/36.90. that will give you the discount rate.

the thirds one combine your knowledge from the first and second one- do 59.99x.25. that will give you the discount-then subtract that from 59.99 to see if she has enough with $40. if she doesnt then subtract $40 from the amount she needs.

and the fourth one:multiply those two numbers by .20 to see how much he saved.

good luck!
