It's happened to me and i am 39, and I am already halfway through. Does anyone know if the symptons ie: irritability, mood swings etc, are worse when you get the early menopause as opposed to the normal age of 45-50.

For most women actual menopause starts in the 50s. However, there is early menopause, which starts in the 30s. Then there is peri-menopause, which is the phase before menopause hits that can start anywhere in the 30s or 40s and go on for years before menopause sets in. I don't think skipping one period is enough evidence to scream hormone problem. If you continue to skip periods, then a trip to the doctor would be in order. Good luck.

My friend had a very early menopause at just 20 years old. She was foul (by her own reckoning) and suffered really bad night sweats and irritability. She always thought she was lucky though as her periods just stopped and she didn't have to suffer the constant fear of irregular bleeding. I am forty now and keep thinking it is happening to me as I do suffer some of the same symptoms, but all blood tests come back normal. My G.P suggests that I may be going through an extented menopause(one which basically lasts a long time) so wish me luck. I so know where you are coming from. Best of luck to you, the end of it is coming and you will feel better, Good luck!
