Can't anybody take a joke?
My question "Does anybody want to give me a massage?" just got deleted in a matter of minutes, for "soliciting or personal ads".
Can you believe that? How can anyone think that I was actually expecting to get a bloody massage through the PC screen?
(And I only saw the 1st 3 answers, so if you were 4 or 5, sorry, I missed it.)
Does anyone else think the guidelines should be looked at? - because some really nasty stuff stays on here for hours, and yet one little joke gets kicked out immediately.
(Yes, I know, this one won't last long either... but I've got to say it.)

Because it would be entirely unsurprising if someone responded that they'd like to give you a massage, and send you their email address in order for you to contact them later.
Additionally, this could be construed as chatting, which is also clearly defined in the community guidelines.
I completely agree that there is much more harmful stuff that is allowed to stay on this site for far too long.
NO, I don't think the guidelines should be looked at. I think you should look at your reason for coming to this site. Are you here to gain knowledge (the very clear, stated purpose of Yahoo! Answers), or are you here to post silly questions? If it's the latter, you might consider looking for a chat room where the rules are not as clear-cut.
Also, you need to realize that Yahoo! Answers doesn't delete stuff, unless they receive a report from a user. It's not Y!A who's asking for your posts to be deleted, but users, who are offended by the fact that some people get to break the rules. If you're offended by other posts that you see, please feel free to push the "report abuse" button.

I know exactly how you feel! Users like pinkbox63 *********** and misshavenpussy put up hateful and gross crap on here all of the time and it stays! I answered a question the other day and it was deleted and I lost ten points. The question was "Do you think a Female President is a good Ideal?", and all I put was "yes I think it would be a great idea." Yahoo sent me an e-mail saying that I had insulted or offended other users! Thats a load of bullcrap! How in the h*ll did I insult anyone?

I know, I got a violation for "insulting other participants" when I said my ex mother in law was scary. And as far as I know she's not even on Yahoo. Haven't seen her since 1972 or so.
Not only should the guide lines be looked at there should be a community review board. Right now you can write Yahoo, but it's all at their discretion, we have no say.

It's obvious that the system is random. Some questions and answers that are not in violation get deleted just because they are reported....other stuff never goes away.

sometimes the posts complaining about a post which said essentially the same thing stays up longer. I can't give a detailed reply as it could be yanked at any minute though.

JBoy I totally agree - I mean there can be a death threat that stays up forever and your harmless post down in minutes? Um HELLO don't they see the stupidity of things like that??

You have my sympathy because I have had absolutely harmless questions deleted...I suspect by certain individuals on this site who didn't like my answers to other questions...I don't understand y/answers...I can understand them having rules...BUT I can't understand when they are not equally applied.

Yeah. A massage is not sexual. Janet Jackson is assaulted by a white man and the whole country goes nuts.
