I've thought about this and I can't understand why some races get offended by verbal racisim dont they realise that words are just noises that mean something that may or may not be true?

I'm white and of mixed ethnicity I have been called every name under the sun and a chunk of them where racial slurs designed to extract a negative reaction from me yet I have never been bothered by them and knowing what they are trying to do makes it funny to me

this whole "kramer" incident is a disgrace and little has been mentioned in the media about the african american man heckling him in order to to make him look more like a victim and it made me sick to see this man acting like he desroyed his life all in the name of profit

not counting threats of actual physical violence I find that far more disguisting than anything I have ever heard from anyones mouth
and that kind of behavour does more to discredit his race than a dictionary of ethnic slurs

we must move forward with maturity

I agree with the notion of moving forward. I am personally more offended that "kramer" referenced LYNCHINGS than I am at him saying the "N" word. That was a more serious THREAT than him saying the "N" word. I don't think minorities are sensitive to verbal racism...that's kind of a contradictory statement. What a person VERBALIZES is more often than not their stance/position on a matter. American Minorities get upset because these words are reminders of the fact that we've not completely eradicated and silenced racism. Racism is NOT an incurable disease, so it CAN be eradicated. Just my two cents.

and lastly, MATURITY has to be shown on both parties.

I don't think its up to you to determine how others should feel about anything. You handle things the best way YOU see fit.

You don't think he could have come up with any other word in the dictionary to get his point across? He knew exactly what he was doing. There are hecklers at pretty much EVERY comedy show. That's something that comes along with the job. That does not condone his actions. And the fact that he is in the public eye, he should be more aware of the things he says. Was he acting maturely when he called them the n word over and over again?

Why can no longer all of us merely get alongside? Why can no longer we merely have peace on earth? Why are “those human beings” so indignant? There would be no peace without justice. (evaluate it; in case you have been discriminated against every day of your existence in keeping with something over which you had no administration, would you be feeling harmonious with your oppressor?) There would be no justice without fairness. So if we desire peace and team spirit, all we could do is furnish fairness. who's waiting? needless to say you do no longer mean to be racist. Neither do I. yet as a White man or woman, i'm nonetheless engaged on information racism and my very own whiteness. I, too, am a fabricated from racism. i could take duty for the effect I even have, in spite of my intentions. Racism hurts, no rely if I mean it or no longer.

wow, you're white and of mixed ethnicity? Never heard that one. You are mixed... and I don't care if that black guy was heckling that idiot he shouldn't have gone on a rant about his race. I have been heckled by white racists many a times and I just ignore or go off on them but not about their race.... Not everyone is strong enough like you to not get their feelings hurt. Yes we must move forward with maturit but does that make it okay that he went off like that?

Great Question! I've always wondered that as a white in a predominately black neighborhood where I hear the infamous "N-Word" used all the bloody time. What's up with their using it as a derogatory word that isn't racist as they'd consider it if anyone else used it??

I think the whole hangup of people over things like the N word actually give it more power. If people stopped being offended or making a big deal about it, it might actually go away.

Because regardless of how you see it, words hurt. After so many years of turning the other cheek, we are tired of being spat on with words. We are human beings regardless of what others may believe. I will continue to stand up for myself and my race until the day I die!!

I think that because they are minorities, at some point or another in their lives they have been discriminated against and they are sensitive to racial issues.

well that wasn;t the only time that Kramer guy used a slur, if you look it up.

And he's a comedian. it comes with the job. I'm not saying it;s right, but its his JOB.

Words hurt, as he found out.

If our society was truly mature then people would be using racial slurs in the first place
