That's RARE! Usually you need to be at least 4-5 days before your next period before a test can be positive (which would be at least 12-15 days after ovulation), and often not even then. Plus, unless you were tracking your ovulation with kits, temp, or another method, most women do not know when they ovulated, and most women are irregular. Women ovulate at different times, making it hard to determine. My doc said only about 14-17% of women ovulate "text book", meaning the exact time they should. I think you should wait until at least the first day of your missed period. It took me 3 weeks after my missed period to finally get a positive, and I was 4.5 weeks along. The daughter was close, it took about 2 weeks after a missed period to get a positive and I was about 4 weeks along then.

A friend of mine got a constructive @ 9 DPO. All of it relies on how long the egg takes to implant. Implantation occurs around 5-12 DPO. And roughly 2-3 days after implantation the HCG level turns into detectable in ones urine

I will tell you if you want to know earlier go to the doctor their tests are much more sensitive! I went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling well I just came off my cycle three days earlier... my doctor came in the room and said that I was pregnant! My husband and I went home and the next day I told my husband I didn't know if I believed the doctor so I used one of my @ home pregancy tests and it was NEGATIVE!! It took another week for the @ home versions to show a positive reading. :)

It all depends on when implantation occurs, that 's when you start making HCG, HCG is what gives you a positive result.
