Mr. Bush will be remembered primarily for being President on 911. Political rhetoric never survives the passage of time. I don't think he will be remembered as one of the greatest presidents, but he will also not be remembered as the worst either.

Renate: You need to study the history of Lincoln' presidency. He was absolutely despised by half of the country. The name calling and rhetoric was even worse than that used to described Mr. Bush. In fact he was so hated that he was assassinated. Just because you hate the man, do presuppose to believe that history will agree with you. As a general rule, when people study history they review major events, not the feelings of the day.

That all depends on what era of history and the credit his admin gets for results in the world from his actions.

For example, say in 25 years, the Middle East is a rat infested 5th world country sufferring from a result of a long civil war after this mess, then the history for him will be bad. But, if say in 100 years, Iraq turns out to be the grandest democracy ever, the result will be different.

That's just how history goes. If Lincoln had lost and the South had won, history would have been completely different on its view of him.

I think your reading the history books or the North's version of the Lincoln Admin. not the South's version of it. Long live Dixie! :)
The Bush administration tried but, it did not reach the greatness of the Reagan admin. they were not conservative enough and Bush is still his father's son when it comes to sticking with the really conservative folks. It was good, gas prices over all were low, housing was good, employment was high, and in the end the Democrats decided to raise the minnimum wage so, see if unemployment isn't high by the time he is out of office, OPEC just decided to cut their oil production which will raise the price of gas, and the housing market is going into a slump, so we'll see who's president next.

Hard to say until the outcome has happened and enough time has passed to let some of the anger and bitterness fade. And that would apply to any President. But sadly, there is the issue of revisionist history. The war between the states is taught to be all about freeing slaves when in all likelihood, the economic factors may have actually played a much larger role.

The time when the USA became Dumbyaland, disregarded the Constitution and dipped it's toe into dictatorship. If we don't pull our proverbial toe out, and the Dumbya Coup gets to write Orwellian history, then it will be all hail to the Great Leader whose picture will appear in the National Archives in the place where the Constitution is now. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

It will depend on the biases of those who wrote the history books.

Reagan is considered by many historians as one of the 'great' presidents because of his effects on the world order and his changes to the US economy. Other people minimize those achievements.

I feel we may never know, since some of us may to be old to see what future history books write about him. I also find it amazing that no one says anything bad about president Kennedy sending troops into Vietnam. I guess since he was assassinated it's taboo to criticize him for having done that.

Bush will go down in history as the worst most inept president in the USA history.

Lincoln was an entirely different person; Bush cannot even be in the same ball park with Lincoln
